Heh, neat. My bout of suicidal ideation, self-loathing, and painful nostalgia has been completely replaced by running around flailing over the sheer amount of work I have to do.
Work is good. I like work. I should probably be really concerned that next to Peggy, Parallax, and the constant risk of being washed into the Gulf, it's the most exciting thing in my life right now.
Oops, there it goes again. Lookit all those friends I COULD have still had if I weren't such a mouthy dago asshole. Lookit that pile of flaming rubble that used to be a kink and/or social life. Look at all that art I've accumulated that's too painful to look at now.
Oh, well, sounds like we're all gonna be dead in 30 years anyhow, and I just can't find it in my heart not to root for the other team here, whoever the fuck they are. Palmetto bugs, if my current environs are any indication. =>_<=

Nah, honestly, if I weren't in the mood to just indulge the pessimism, I'd make a big rallying Jeff Winger Speech about how humanity took all of eight years to master nuclear fission once we decided that's what we wanted. So once the sociopolitical dimensions of this are conquered...
Well, anyhow, that logical path's reserved for somebody who hasn't already decided they're happy if a few select mammal and bird species survive, and would actually kinda rather see humanity get knocked down to ~1700 AD populations anyhow...
Listen, humanity's not gonna go extinct. Our "civilization" is. What, you think life in the resulting Mad Max environs is gonna be any more difficult than being, say, an Inuit or a San Khoisan? You have no idea how little a human being can get by on... because you're a citizen of the 21st-century developed world. You don't have to like it— I sure don't— but something will survive. And maybe it'll prove humanity doesn't deserve total extinction after all.
