No sign of Umbra. I don't have much hope that they're coming back.
I'm dealing. I'm coming to accept that these cats were always basically treated like strays that hung around our neighbor's house, and Umbra was always likely to meet the same fate as his three sisters that also just kinda... wandered off, and it wasn't my fault for letting him chase me.
Still mad at our neighbor. But he was a street cat and I'm choosing to believe he'll be fine. I did everything I could.

And if he ever returns, he will be Umbra The Bold and I am gonna curtly inform our neighbor that he is OURS now and I'm gonna put a collar, GPS tracker, and possibly a Mad Science satellite uplink on him, connected to an AI that will incinerate anything that tries to hurt him.
And if he does not, I'm gonna give him a hell of a flattering Parallax cameo because I don't know what else to do for the little guy and if I don't do anything at all I'm gonna cry.

@Austin_Dern I mean, if he's out there somewhere having a Good Stray Kitty Life, that's a happy ending. And that seems very possible in New Orleans.
I'm just in shock that he wandered way so soon after I bonded with him—and still feeling guilty that he disappeared right after chasing us a couple blocks away from home, then disappearing into a place where we couldn't get to him. I'm accepting that for an uncollared outdoor cat like him, it was just a matter of time. :(

@zebratron2084 Yeah, he certainly could be having a good, reasonably comfortable time. Or got scooped up by someone who can't let cats be strays when they have a home and everything. It's just the not knowing that's awful.

@zebratron2084 fingers crossed it’s the former.

@zebratron2084 i'm sorry. Here's hoping for happy news ahead.
