Star forts!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bastion_

These came up at work today as I was researching a famous one in Japan. (goo.gl/maps/vBxRhfqkJ4bFSu1fA)

Basically, I just love anything that has a huge specialty vocabulary, and I could nerd out over all the little spokes and spikes and moats and outcroppings of these things for hours. Plus, as military bases go, they're real pretty.

Man, I wish Mid-City in NOLA had a ravelin. =(^).(^)= (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ravelin)

@zebratron2084 cool I’d always heard them referred to as Vauban forts!

@zebratron2084 'Posting about military fortifications' might as well be like Pavlov ringing a bell for me. This shit owns.
