After recent conversation with @Thaminga, I have the urge to attempt to draw up some kind of Civ-style tech tree for postfurries. Either from our actual microfandom's history, or some specific universe, maybe the 12F/13R world.

It'd probably be a hell of a lot like the SM:AC tech tree, albeit for a society that has better things to do with N-space compression than build missiles. >:D

I guess the first question is... SM:AC had "Build," "Explore," "Develop," and "Conquer."

What are the basic categories of our technology? Maybe Organic, Inorganic, Psycholinguistic (incl. aesthetics gender "techs"), and "Glow"?

(Could see "Glow" equivalent to "Dust" in the Endless series, or "Mana" in trad fantasy, covering both actual lightshows and "meta" powers most settings would call "magic"... Inspired by Thaminga's go, Glow could probably include "celestial"/"infernal" stuff too.)

@zebratron2084 Hmm, personally I'd associate "glow" more with cosmic matters; aliens, future technology, etc. more so than the explicitly supernatural.

Though that can absolutely be its own category. <3

@Thaminga Most of my world-building stubbornly refuses to acknowledge the difference! XD Remember, I was a teenaged fundie at the same time I discovered Philip K. Dick, and was already hugely influenced by Madeleine L'Engle. It had... many consequences. :)
