Playing is equivalent to learning how to walk when you have both no tactile feedback, and no pre-existing knowledge of the mechanics of which muscles enable running. It is actually entirely possible to run with the weird controls. But for a lot of people? Just scooting along on the ground, getting to the end in less than 20 minutes, was an accomplishment.
At one point, the creator was asked whether they'd ever considered putting out a version of the game with achievements
Have you ever heard of the game QWOP?
It's okay if you haven't, feel free to look it up real quick. tl;dr version, it's a game where you attempt to run an olympic sprint using only the qwop keys. It... Is not easy, for a multitude of reasons. It's largely played for humor, but... There's an analogy I want to make from it.
@BigFatFae
In other words, cosmic horror was horrifying in the 20th century for the same reason that existentialism/nihilism was depressing in the 20th century: it hasn't been processed yet because everybody had grown up with the opposite trend.
Today, the duality of light, non-locality, and goedel incompleteness aren't so mindblowing: we've been integrating that part of the shadow for a hundred years. (We're not done yet, but the reaction has dampened.)
@BigFatFae
There's a take I really like in John Higgs' book Stranger than We Can Imagine, which goes like this:
The 19th century was all about settling into a sense that the world was consistent and understandable, behaving according to knowable rules. The 20th century kicked off with half of those rules being demolished in math and science in the first 10 years, followed by 19th c politics being demolished by WWI in the teens.
@enkiv2 These are very solid comments! I don't have much to add beyond them, except to say thank you for making them!
@Ulfra_Wolfe@witches.town To even further that... We're a generation that grew up with knowledge at our fingertips. For the first time in history, our struggles aren't finding information, held almost exclusively in universities, but in finding *the right* information, often just a few words away in the right search engine. We approach the infinite with the casualness of a mind that has already accepted it can't know everything.
Mind rending knowledge is a silly concept to me. The eldritch causing one to question the nature of reality seems laughable. I *already* question reality constantly, and I *already* have mental health issues related to the *mundane*, the nature of humanity is far more unhinging than the idea of a universe full of monsters who care not for our existence.

I'm all for thinking more about how you season and spice stuff. But for a lot of people, they need to be able to reach in quickly and without thought. And I'm okay with that, and you should be too! Food should be a nice experience, and cooking can easily become ritual if you do things like this :3

Now, all of this? Mostly salt. Of course! The idea is that you're using this instead of salt because it adds flavor for basically NO effort beyond the initial making. This is often what a lot of restaurants will do, too, make a powder like this that lets them season quickly, while giving a flavor profile. It's why a lot of places have this particular flavor to everything they make.
Food / Cooking
My personal 'low energy season everything spice mix, use instead of salt for every savory dish when you don't have a particular profile in mind'
5 parts Kosher Salt
1 part smoked paprika
1 part mixed garlic powder and onion salt
1 part other spices
Other spices include, but are not limited to:
Black or white Pepper
Cayenne pepper
Cumin
Tumeric
Chili Powder
Dried Thyme
Dried Oregano
Crushed red peppers
The cool thing about these? You can change the proportions to taste.
cooking advice I am only recently fully appreciating
@starkatt Smoked paprika is literally my favorite thing. All the joys of paprika, plus smokiness. It's basically the core of my own personal seasoning mix
Extremely Fat/barely mobile kink writing
You can baarely get them to your mouth, but that's hard, too, because lifting your arm is *haaard*, the weight is one thing, but the way your upper arm squishes into everything when you move is troublesome... it smooshes against chestfat which smooshes against neckfat which pressures your jaw to close...
Extremely Fat/barely mobile kink writing
Feeling fat bunch up around your wrist as you try to get a few extra inches forward... feeling the fat of your upper arm pressing against your breasts, which push against your tummy, which press your love handles back and up, which presses your arms back up, just not enough room for all that squish... but finally you manage to get it to roll forward, causing it spill cookies on your side...
Extremely Fat/barely mobile kink writing
Reaching for a cookie jar set out on the table... tummy sticking out so far it presses against the table and shoves it backwards before you even get your arm halfway there... shuffling to the side, dragging your belly along the ground, huffing from the exertion... even sides press against the table, but you can juuust barely get your fingers to touch it...
@Kyna I'll meet you halfway: I'm a cloud~
