Mastodon web interface. (-)
Step 1: Read timeline via phone client.
Step 2: find toot I want to offer a detailed response to (as in, more than I want to try to type with a crappy virtual keyboard).
Step 3: "Share" URL for toot with myself ("Saved Messages") on Telegram to catch up on from my laptop.
Step 4: Open Telegram on laptop, check messages, click link.
Step 5: Get toot and conversation thread, but desperately search every clickable object on the page, wondering how to actually reply.
Step 6: . . . still wondering.
Any ideas? (About Masto interface stuff, not my choice of phone client or Telegram.)

@packbat Ah! I can't imagine why that wasn't perfectly obvious to me before. *rolls eyes* Oh, Mastodon.
Thank you for pointing me in the right direction!
re: Mastodon web interface. (-)
@ElectricKeet Mastodon is famous for how well all its features and foibles are documented, isn't it?
Glad to be of service!
re: Mastodon web interface. (-)
@ElectricKeet slightly brute-force solution:
put "?type=reply" at the end of the url of the post you want to reply to, minus the quotes. that should give you a reply text box.
re: Mastodon web interface. (-)
@ElectricKeet this might need revision. the full URL changes depending on what you're trying to do. apologies!
re: Mastodon web interface. (-)
@kelseyhusky Is okay! I have a working solution now (use the search bar in the Masto web interface) but it's a dreadfully non-obvious one.
Mastodon web interface. (-)
@ElectricKeet Is the toot on Pleroma? If so, easiest may be pasting the URL into the web UI’s search, which’ll bring it up in the Masto UI.
re: Mastodon web interface. (-)
@ElectricKeet I think the intended method is "open web interface, paste link in search bar, wait however long until the toot suddenly appears, click reply there."
