There's nothing quite like clicking the "Unsubscribe" link on one of many unwanted promotional e-mails from a company I purchased from once, only for my browser's anti-bullshit filter to block it as dangerous.

I'm sure it sucks for them to lose a customer, but they should look on the bright side! They can still sell my info because I don't live in California.

@LexYeen Water: Drink It!

Heads up, there's folks on Discord spreading malware via itch that will take over your Discord account. twitter.com/PeableFlip/status/

The payload and itch URL they use change occasionally but currently the "game" they're sending around is called Sway

We built this city on rock and roll, so we always had power outage problems during big long guitar solos, and after people mostly moved to EDM in the early 2000s the economy really took a nosedive

@xinjinmeng I'm sure I can find something good to say about it. It's... it's... uh... earnest?

Your daily reminder that "One Size Fits All" is always a hurtful lie.

@rainwarrior The doubled stuff is a little too bracing for me, but I unironically enjoy the more lightly salted variety.

Electric Keet's music? On Bandcamp?

Almost.

I'm planning to dip my toes in by releasing my first three released albums, a.k.a. my only released albums... but I have a big decision to make.

What license should I release all this under? It's presently covered by standard U.S. all-rights-reserved copyright, but I'm trying to decide just how available I want it to be. What I really want it the Hippocratic License – firstdonoharm.dev/ seriously check it out – but Bandcamp only offers Creative Commons licenses, so...

Do I want "Non-Commercial"? Not quite. I mean, I sort of do because I'm kinda rabidly anti-capitalist these days and I really don't want anything I do to be used for shit I wouldn't tolerate, but I don't want to say no to whatever small game developer wants to plunk my tracks in whilst also making rent payments, y'know?

Do I want "No Derivatives"? It seems cruel to offer music for use in projects and then say it can't be changed as needed to fit, so probably not.

Do I want "Share Alike"? I don't even know. Are viral licenses cool?

At the end of the day, I think what I really want is for my work to be available to anyone who wants to make use of it, but I kinda want to know who and why first so I don't discover that fascist assholes used "Dream of One" as the startup sound for a kitten-seeking missile or something.

Am I better off sticking with "All Rights Reserved" and telling folks to contact me for free usage only if they think the Hippocratic License is a good idea?

listening to music from Star Trek The Original Series in the proper fashion, ie with my shirt off and occasionally falling out of my chair

@Leucrotta Definitely keep at this. I love the way this works with your line style!

I’m making a music video that needs to be done by Friday and I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help out by drawing various characters overlaid over still frames of the video (draw anything you want but it has to be SFW and needs to completely cover/hide the human in the frames, and still use the existing background).

Also is there anyone I can pay money to to make a live2d version of my critter avatar for Facerig quickly but not too expensively? (say around $150ish)

Was watching the 1938 Robin Hood and when a particular bit of sword fight happened, I realized I'd seen it a thousand times before in Prince of Persia! Rad!

software injustice rant formatted as hypothetical dictionary entry

techbro (adj.):

1. Denying that software or the organizations developing it are ever responsible for perpetuating the structural marginalization of any members of society.

2. Approaching software and web design and accessibility as being about supporting the groups responsible for creating it at the expense of those reliant upon it.

@xinjinmeng @rainwarrior Oddly, I feel that Battletoads is more brutal of the two, but that's in part because I've only ever made it past the Turbo Tunnels a couple times but I've beat TMNT legit maybe half a dozen or so. It's a different sort of hard. Battletoads is more demanding, but TMNT has more jank to put up with.

Do you write CSS? don't do this POS move

@mawr This reminds me of shader programming. You'll occasionally see things multiplied by 0.999999 or summed with 0.000001 for the purposes of avioding division by zero or making sure pixel boundaries aren't missed. This might be a bug workaround!

But it's still kinda messed up.
