re: spoilers: the entire plot of Half-Life from memory

@phenokage@snouts.online @Felthry indeed! to be fair HL2 aged surprisingly well for a 15 year old game, but graphical fidelity aside you can still absolutely tell they're that old from the design work that went into them, ahaha

re: spoilers: the entire plot of Half-Life from memory

@Thaminga @phenokage@snouts.online What do you mean by "design work that went into them"?

re: spoilers: the entire plot of Half-Life from memory

@Felthry @phenokage@snouts.online the overall aesthetic choices for the games themselves (video game palettes got -way- browner over the course of the later '00s, not to mention the relative lack of bloom in both games, with HL1 also having a color palette that's very much in line with other more gritty games from the late '90s/early '00s), not to mention the character designs contain a good bunch of tropes that date both games back to their respective eras~ (Gordon's bright orange outfit, Alyx's decidedly early '00s fashion sense and the general alien designs to name a few things)

@Thaminga @phenokage@snouts.online to be honest I don't know who any of these characters are, the extent of our knowledge of the series is this speedrun we just watched (in which Gordon apparently doesn't exist and is also a boat, and there's someone named Mothman who betrays people) and that half-life 3 is a meme for some reason

re: spoilers: the entire plot of Half-Life from memory

@Felthry @phenokage@snouts.online I know exactly which speedrun you're talking about, and honestly it goes so far off course from the game itself I'd consider it almost spoiler-free, lmao
