how exactly does a 1080p usb 2.0 capture card work anyway

simple math suggests that it has to have an on-board video encoder, as 60 Hz 1080p 24bpp video would require just shy of 3 Gb/s, over six times what USB 2.0 can handle

@Felthry the only one's I've seen convert hdmi to analog video (at SD) and then capture that

@noiob I mean the really well-regarded Elgato Game Capture HD is usb 2.0

I don't know why they decided not to make it a pcie card, really
