what exactly prevents you from making an exact copy of a disc and using it in a game console anyway

@Felthry lots of stuff. generally accomplished by using trickery that can be done with mastering tech but not by burners the general public has access to
one old example is encoding information in the frequency of the wobbles in the track the laser follows on the disc. a consumer burner can read the disc because it has a built in compensation mechanism for reading imperfect discs, but the actions it's taking are invisible to the rest of the machine and can't be duplicated when writing
