kin stuff
still feels *really weird* when people refer to their sona as a distinct entity from themself
i get that it's a thing and not everyone is kin but really it just feels weird
re: kin stuff
@Oneironott sorry, i'm having a little trouble parsing what you mean here
re: kin stuff
@Felthry err, words
so to say,
furries have like no issues referring to others as their species so it's kinda weird to hear folks shift and refer to their fursona as distinct from themselves
it parses a bit contradictory
re: kin stuff
@Felthry you're def not alone in this though, it bugs me too (it makes me feel obligated to talk like that too)
re: kin stuff
@Oneironott don't feel obligated to talk like that if you're not comfortable with it! we've never been able to bring ourselves to
re: kin stuff
@Oneironott @Felthry also same.
The word "fursona" feels weird. I'm just a fox.
re: kin stuff
@starkatt @Oneironott @Felthry Yeah, me too. I'm just a wolf.
And it's /me/, not Someone Else Distinct. That's what really gets me.
[And you do /not/ have to make a Someone Else Distinct fursona, at ALL!]
re: kin stuff
@IceWolf @starkatt @Oneironott but it's important that you can if you want to!
re: kin stuff
@Felthry @starkatt @Oneironott Oh sure! Just... there's evidently a prevailing culture of You Should, and, wherf.
kin stuff
tbh, same. It's actually part of why, for a while I couldn't decide to differentiate myself and my sona or not... b/c I saw so many people on both sides of the divide.
(then I realized it was a distinction without a difference to refer to my sona as anything but *me* so...)
kin stuff
@Felthry
I have never gotten used to it, and apparently it's the norm locally.
kin stuff
@Felthry it makes me feel uncomfortable sometimes
Particularly when folks sometimes refer to themselves as their fursona and then suddenly distinguish between the two
re: kin stuff
@Felthry it clashes with a little other furryisms that aren't like that, i feel
