random thought: i really hope breath of the wild 2 has some kind of hookshot

not having a hookshot in botw is one of the big things it feels like it's lacking

@Felthry they were saying that it'd make traversal too easy

@noiob yeah that makes sense, i do think it'd be possible to balance it well though

@Felthry I don't really miss it with revali's gale and everything

@noiob i can see other neat possible uses for it, like use it to wrench a shield out of an enemy's hand or something, or grab that one apple off the tree that you can't seem to climb into range of

I think balancing it would involve making it either short-range or slow to use, but you can't do either of those too much before it stops feeling like the hookshot people are used to, hmm

there's also the "it only works on some surfaces" option of course. like most of the previous games

@Felthry yeah and also the surfaces thing is tricky since you can climb on basically anything

@noiob yeah, I know! not something we ever did early game because we didn't realize you would get the arrow back and until the very late game arrows are extremely precious items

@Felthry Is a hookshot like a grappling hook where you pull yourself up on cliffs and stuff?

@IceWolf the hookshot is an iconic zelda item, you launch it at a thing and it grabs the thing and either pulls the thing to link or pulls link to the thing

it's been in most zelda games in some form or other
