the cw stuff
am I in the wrong to want cws for our own mental health, even if we do open almost every one?
just, not being given a chance to mentally prepare for stuff, and not being able to close it after reading, makes it way harder on us
we still read the stuff. but it's wearing on our mental health and i really do *not* want to have to use keyword mutes
i want to retain our ability to engage with this stuff
i want to have cws not to silence people but so that we *don't have to* silence people
re: the cw stuff
so after talking with @Hi_cial@snouts.online and another friend (who i think would rather stay anonymous) about this, and taking a while to eat lunch and take a break, i think i've come to realize that I was in the wrong, and also that the things we would want CW'd (i.e. details about violence and/or death) are in fact getting CW'd anyway--the stuff people are talking about is in fact just whether black people should be expected to cw their experiences as black people, which is never what we wanted a cw for
anyone else who wants to is welcome to read the discussion below, I feel like Cial explained pretty well where I was wrong and maybe reading his stuff would help others understand too
