what happened to horizontal format desktop computers anyway

@Felthry I mean, there are "mini" ones that are horizontal...

but no big ones I can think of.

@IceWolf i just feel like it's a better format... keeps the computer off the ground, meaning less dust, and it means the PCIe cards are mounted vertically, which is good for heavy cards like GPUs

@Felthry prebuilt office computers still come in horizontal, afaik

@Felthry but like, screens aren't super deep anymore so they'll take up extra space that the screen alone wouldn't

@nautilee really? i would have thought they'd be better for keeping dust out since they're not on the floor

@nautilee and mounting a GPU vertically feels a lot less precarious. could be problems we'r enot aware of though

most of the horizontal cases are the kind of thing designed to sit on top of a desk, which means they're really, really small and cramped. Not particularly good airflow and harder to build/repair
