without looking them up, which of the following is not a word

yes, i promise you, three of these are in fact real words
-F

the correct answer was:

teratonium is not a word!

zenzizenzizenzic is an archaic/poetic word for the eighth power of a number

a fetron is a jfet-based replacement for a triode vacuum tube

and ytterbates are oxyanions of ytterbium
-F

a guess

@Felthry Uhh, teratonium?

zenzizenzizenzic feels like an obvious bait answer, so we're betting it's an actual word. :3

re: a guess

@Ylfingr i'm not giivng away the answer!
-F

@Felthry I don't care if it's real or not, what a good sound

a guess

@Felthry IIRC zenzizenzizenzic is an archaic word for a sextic, ytterbate sounds like a YbO3- ion or something.

Fetron sounds vaguely plausible for some reason, so I'm going to guess teratonium, because about the only thing that could be is a mutagenic positive ion, or a metal that's somehow a trillion tons?

a guess

@lorxus @Felthry Or monsters. :3 (given "teratophilia" is a thing.)

Guesses at meanings of those words

@Felthry I think teratonium is the the one that isn't real. I know ytterbate is a ytterbium-oxygen anion of some kind from the name, even though I've never encountered any, and a fetron is probably a vacuum tube from the -tron suffix. I don't know what zenzizenzizenzic is, but it's too good a word not to be real, and probably involves something being done three times.

@Felthry I hope you explain the real words at the end.

I have a hunch about zenzizenzizenzic

the correct answer was:

@Felthry I got it right by assuming you were being deceptive,m since it is the one that most *looks* like a real word

re: the correct answer was:

@sharkNserg hah! i appreciate that
-F

the correct answer was:

@Felthry a teratonium is a 3 century church father, according to a random Quizlet that comes up when searching the word

re: the correct answer was:

@trwnh ehh?? it's a word i made up by jamming together random classical roots

i even searched it to make sure it's not a real word
-F

the correct answer was:

@Felthry can I steel teratonium as a fantasy substance name?

re: the correct answer was:

@synthgal sure!
-F

the correct answer was:

@Felthry I got it right yay
