we've just realized that, just like how you sort of skip over most of the word "the" in most english speech, we also kinda do that in writing

@Felthry In Singapore I picked up the habit of writing 'the' as just the letter e with a horizontal bar across the top. It's a common enough shorthand and I have no idea where it comes from, but it's a nice timesaver.
