wait what did patreon do now
@typhlosion yeah, I saw that, but apparently they did something just today or something?
@Felthry oh
idk ;w;
@Felthry changed fees, TL;DR: "$1" means $1.68~ actual money. Basically fucking people doing $1 subscriptions because their bottom line wasn't fat enough.
@Draekos yeah, I saw that, but I am seeing people talking about some announcement or something they made today
@Felthry the announcement being that going live? I'll check.
@Felthry yeah, unless it's a different email people are freaking out about than the one I'm looking at, it's Patreon putting transaction fees on Patrons (and still dipping into withdraw fees too)
@Draekos oh, people were talking about something with their twitter account. sorry. I'm being vague and would probably just check for myself if I knew what their twitter account was or had the first idea how to use twitter
@Draekos don't feel like you need to relay information to me either. thanks for the help, though
@Felthry Opened their payment scheme like a shrimp to be fried, seeking more pennies, passed the cost to Patrons and called it helping Creators. They made $1 patronage cost near 40 cents more, per patron, per submission (for by-post patreons).
($1+2.9%+35¢) now. Per month, or per post if it's a patreon that charges by submission rather than monthly.

tl;dr:
Patreon got a bunch of new parasitic venture capitalist investors, so to satisfy them they decided to nickel and dime everyone--hoping to drive away small "undesirable" transactions in favor of large whales, or scrape every last penny they can.
Elbow deep in everyone's pocket instead of just the wrist.
@Felthry started charging patrons an extra fee on top of taking a (now smaller) cut from the money the patreon user gets
so if you have a $1 pledge level, the patron pays $1.38 and the user gets $0.95, making dollar pledges effectively useless
