oh yeah, something from the trip that probably @socks and no one else we know will appreciate: while travelling this last week, we were playing our own playlist on shuffle and right as we passed a tiny town called Hamel, Illinois on the highway, the track Silver Will started playing
-F
@Austin_Dern What's a rush table?
-F
@LexYeen @owashii@plush.city This is why we insist on physical copies of things in general, in most cases at least those don't rely on some external server
-F
@Truck We generally find it more comfortable to type numbers on the number row for general use in the middle of typing other things, but use the numpad when entering a lot of numbers into a spreadsheet
-F
@owashii@plush.city it'd actually be less than that because they can't make every possible code valid, valid codes have to be a small subset of total codes
typically only the company that owns the thing will have a method for generating valid codes, and they give a limited number of codes to sites that resell the thing, and if the reseller runs out of codes they have to wait for the owner to make more codes and sell them to them so they can sell them to you
-F
@hi_cial I am curious about the reason for the fishpeddling part
-F
travelling wasn't really a good idea in the global circumstances but we kinda couldn't avoid it this time
but getting to go to the memphis zoo for the first time in like ten years was kinda nice
also seeing our family's pet cats. we missed them, it's been like two years since we visited home and we've seen our human family when they helped us move and stuff but the cats it's been a long time
-F
@codl huh! we've never heard the numbers, just the standards letters, though only a few specific ones--b, g, n, ac, and ax are the ones we've actually heard of
-F
@codl has anyone ever referred to 802.11n as "wifi 4"? or the 5 or 6 ones either
-F
oh! and a ringtail too who had two enclosures across the hall from each other and a tunnel connecting them, which was neat
-F
@glitternoodle yeah, i'm going to stick to modern non-toxic pigments whenever we have to color things
-F
@glitternoodle Arsenic was used a lot in yellow paints historically, so it makes sense that it might be used to make yellow ink maybe
-F
@Truck in the context of keyboards, "tenkey" means the numpad, so that's what confused me.
-F
@P1L0T hi p1lot, you're cute
-F
@Truck I am unaware of what tenkey touch typing is!
-F
@Truck Caveat to our answer (yes, US) here: it was taught in school, we were horrible at it and couldn't do it basically at all, then we kinda just taught ourself after starting to talk to people on irc and aim and stuff
-F
@xenon i know what you mean and it's not what i'm thinking of, i'm wondering about like, you hear a real person's name and think "oh that person is probably american"
