what does joining the volcano manor actually entail

it sounds like if we leave now we'll be locked out of being able to join them, but we have basically no information on them at all

and i feel like we've been dumped into a situation where we're forced to make a choice without enough information and that is Bad and Stressful and we would really appreciate it if someone could give us the missing information as spoiler-free as possible
