@curls usb c is too small to have crimp contacts though so they'll be soldered, but i guess it's the same idea
-F
@curls i don't know about USB cables specifically but the ones we'v emade it's just what orientation you hold the connector when you crimp it on
-F
@curls yeah like i said you usually expect 0° unless there's some reason for it not to be, and when there is some reason for it not to be it's usually 90°, 180°, or 270°
i mean it doesn't really impact function or anything, it just looks kinda sloppy on a cable short enough for it to be noticeable
i expect that it wouldn't matter at all on cables more than a couple feet long, though
-F
@distressedegg why do we keep seeing people using emoji in place of letters and numbers lately?
-F
@curls it's almost always a multiple of 90° and for an adapter like this i would expect it to be 0° (or 180° which are equivalent in this case)
the fact that it's so misaligned is a sign of somewhat poor quality but it works so eh
-F
@curls clocking is the term for the rotational alignment of connectors on a cable relative to each other, in this particular case it's like 60° which is a really weird number and not good -F

Early post today because I'll be out of town tonight. It's these two characters again, now together. Their names are Aidan and Aisling Frennel, and they own an inn in a village in southern Ertset. It's become known for Aidan's bartending skills; he claims there's no magic to his techniques, just years of practice, but something in them can transport one's mind to far-off places for just a few seconds. Aisling gets to test these out, and she doesn't talk about what happens when one goes wrong.
@bj oh this one's really good! i like them both quite a lot

also we don't have a keyboard we can connect to the steam deck, which is annoying
we just have the one usb keyboard and it's usb type a, which the deck has no ports of
-F
@heatherhorns nickel is also named after trickster spirits
-F
apparently it just runs arch which
- great, the notoriously arcane and hard to maintain linux distribution
- but also it looks like epsxe and pcsx are both available for it as pre-packaged, uh, packages
-F
we need to get some emulators installed on our steam deck, with the disappointment of the recent chrono cross remaster being just a bad emulator on the original i want to just play the original
we *have* the psx disc but it'd be nice to play on a portable system
and no we are not getting one of those weird psone screens
