@LexYeen I think the exciting new stuff to look at in the field of electronics right now is wide bandgap semiconductors. GaN stuff is already starting to hit the consumer market, and SiC is increasingly common in electric vehicles and industrial applications.

i'm looking forward to seeing GaN MOSFETs; apparently a couple companies are working on developing them (what they have right now are strange JFET-esque things called HEMTs, which are slightly awkward to use)

@LexYeen perhaps, but who's to say this stuff can stick together well enough under motion? I wouldn't trust it to. And how conductive is it? How easy is it to make (good, repeatable) contact to?

@LexYeen Speaking as someone who works in electronics manufacturing we have our doubts that this will be very useful

it's neat, and will have some interesting applications, but we would be surprised if it causes fundamental shifts

@LexYeen a neat little detail that's easy to miss i asked the artist to add: that particular anthro body doesn't quite fit right (it's a little smaller around the waist than he is), and he kinda likes that

i bet you'd like the whole idea behind that character too--he's modular, and generally thinks of the taurbody as *him*, while the anthro body (of which it has many) is something it wears (it uses both it and he pronouns)

you ever think the main thing politics does is get in the way of actually doing things?

it feels like politicsing is the reason a lot of things end up not happening. it might go back to racism or transmisia or something but it's politics that enables that stuff to get a platform and prevent society from progressing

politicians tell people X is bad, then turn around and say "well i would support X but all my constituents say X is bad and i have to think about them"

@pup_hime The only cat things we've seen cats actually interact with much are cat trees, scratching posts, and cat toys (though the cat toys no more than random bits of trash that they decide are great toys)

@pup_hime i'm guessing the software could define a color as pantone color #whatever or as (R,G,B)/(H,S,V)/(C,M,Y,K)/(L,A,B)/whatever other colorspaces it supports

it'd basically be another color space
