@Venerabela the battle simulator thing reminds me of pokemon xd's battle cds!
-F

@pup_hime we've found that very sweet breads like brioche are hard to toast because they just burn
-F

@oceanotter i think it's just because modern TVs never have composite or component input anymore
-F

@oceanotter oh you're playing emerald too, most fights were made more difficult in emerald! so it's no wonder you struggled with brawly

...emerald is still our favorite of the generation though. I mean, it has rayquaza on the title screen, *and* it has the battle frontier!
-F

@oceanotter i kinda think they intended you to come back to brawly later (he doesn't have to be the second gym leader) but then wattson is even worse, so i dunno what was going on there
-F

@FurryThrowPillows for us, it's always either a princess grace toot or a xkcd.com/2071/ situation (like the recent rash of people talking about "all the people arguing for federating with threads" when we have seen nothing but people sharing information on how to prevent even *accidentally* leaking iinformation to threads)
-F

@shnorbles@chitter.xyz i'm pretty sure it was briefly mentioned in one of the earlier xkcd what-ifs
-F

@shnorbles@chitter.xyz you also have to be given a certain amount of paid time off that you can take whenever you want, so you can use that for holidays even if your workplace doesn't give everyone that day off anyway
-F

@shnorbles@chitter.xyz some states with better union presence have laws that mandate days off for all workers too, that the workers are able to--at their choice, not the boss's--choose not to take off and get paid extra, i think (so if you get Christmas off but you don't care because you're not christian you can work that day and get paid double or whatever)

the actual laws are pretty complicated and we do not know them in any detail
-F

@shnorbles@chitter.xyz depends on the job, and the state

if you work for the government in any capacity (even as like a USPS delivery driver or a public school teacher) there are certain holidays that you *must* have off by law, and your boss is allowed to give you other days off at their discretion

this is also true of people who work for banks though i'm not sure if that's a legal requirement or something else but there are some holidays where every financial institution is closed
-F

@socks also video games. we encountered someone the other day who said they didn't like any video game they couldn't finish in a single sitting, which, completely valid but wow is that incomprehensible to us
-F

@pup_hime probably because patent clerks are boring and have neve rplayed a video game
-F

@MindmeshLink anyway! this is really good bread. make sure you have some friends to share it with because the recipe makes three entire loaves and is not simple to cut down. it's really great with butter and jam

also the dough is intensely sticky. it's almost like a cake batter instead of a bread dough -F

@MindmeshLink also i notice that this knockoff site has decided that most of the directions are actually ingredients and the only directions are "1. sounds hollow when tapped"

also that one of the ingredients is "350 x degrees F"
-F

@MindmeshLink both of those might be good too! i don't know

"hawaiian bread II" was one of the first breads we made and we liked it enough that we never tried any of the other hawaiiian bread recipes
-F

@MindmeshLink it... seems to have disappeared from the internet??? it was called "hawaiian bread II" on allrecipes but i can't find it now
-F

@MindmeshLink ooh we can send you one of our favorite bread recipes
-F
