Final Fantasy IX is a game about friendship and supporting people through hard times. The player character, Zidane, has been a source of constant optimism and positivity the whole game, helping all of the other characters through their own struggles with identity and meaning.
And that makes it hit that much harder when Zidane is told that he was created specifically to destroy the world. He doesn't know how to process this, and just shuts down, pushing people away.
And his friends come to his aid to help him through it regardless.
Final Fantasy IX is a game that teaches important lessons, one of the most important of which is simply
