Before you ask, no I'm not going to explain the metaphor.

*appreciates the underappreciated creatures out there*

"Nostalgia for a nonexistent time" would be a fantastic theme for an art compilation

why are there so many games called something arms

Thousand Arms
Wild Arms (whole series)
Enchanted Arms

we remembered the dream we had last night.

Unfortunately it was the most disappointing possible dream; we dreamed about doing laundry. Not only is that an extremely boring dream, but on top of that you wake up and then the laundry still isn't done.

today we learned: Latin had two different words for inclusive and exclusive or: vel and aut respectively

*as sarcastic as possible* Wow, thanks, Amazon, I never could have afforded it without that discount

What's with this weird trend of slightly-fancy commercial bread being wrapped in sealed plastic wrap inside the normal plastic bag?

Carbonic acid is really quite weird a thing to drink, come to think of it

Ever since making the decision to not boost posts with poorly- or not-at-all-alt-text'd images, I've noticed that a _lot_ of people just. Don't even consider alt text

I am eternally disappointed by the fact that such a fantastic name as ninjabread man got taken by such a horrible, _horrible_ game

it occurs to me that the best thing a company would be able to do to make their products stick out on the shelf may well be to just strip all branding entirely, just have a plain solid-color box with what it is printed plainly in large print

Sometimes, this game's writing is really good.

"I'll rip that traitorous tongue from your throat!"
"Then finally you'll have the truth in your grasp."

I made up these LGBT identity words show what it would be like if the words were built only from native Germanic English roots, instead of from Latin or Greek loan-words: (1717 characters, very long)

Some words for sexual orientations:

* sexual orientation = drawing or faining (fain is an archaic English word for desire; see merriam-webster.com/dictionary )
* #asexual = undrawn or unfaining
* bisexual = twain-drawn or twain-fain
* gay (in the sense of homosexual) = same-drawn or same-fain
* gay (strictly in the sense of men loving men) = wer-drawn or wer-fain (wer or were is an archaic English word for a specifically male human, whereas "man" was a gender-neutral word for a human; see en.wiktionary.org/wiki/wer#Eng )
* heterosexual = other-fain, else-fain, or else-drawn
* lesbian = lass-fain, lass-drawn, lady-fain, lady-drawn, or wif-fain (wif is a Middle English word for woman; see en.wiktionary.org/wiki/wif#Mid )

Some words about gender:

* gender = kind
* assigned gender = allotted kind
* gender dysphoria = kind-woe
* #transgender = cross-kind
* transition = crossing
* cisgender = same-side-kind or stay-kind

Some words about nonbinary gender:

* gender binary = kind twofoldness
* binary genders = twain kinds
* #nonbinary = untwain
* genderfluid = kind-flow
* genderqueer = kind-queer
agender or genderless = kindless
* bigender = twi-kind
* neutral gender = fair-kind
* neutrois = fair-three

Building words from Germanic English roots is a fun linguistic experiment that is helpful when you find yourself overwhelmed with what we think of as "long words," which are of Greek or Latin origin. Wikipedia gives several examples of writings that attempted to do that:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linguist
The #Anglish wiki has a lot of resources for if you want to try it too:

@GlitterDisaster@snouts.online I know it's probably something entirely different but I keep reading your display name as "Zest at Fire Emblem"
