seriously, primary and secondary school education should have a LOT more information about native american culture and government and stuff because the impression people get coming out of it is that the native americans were some sort of wild people with no government to speak of and that's not even close to true

Tenochtitlan is such a fantastic name for a city. Even without knowing its etymology for sure, it's just aesthetically pleasing and sounds nice to say.

occasionally I think about what it would be like if there was more than one species of human still around today but then I realize that would kick racism into overdrive and never mind about that thought

also this same rule meant that _any_ elected official, when leaving the city of Rome, was immediately considered "on military campaign" and held absolute power over life and death of others which seems a bit abusable even if it never seems to have been abused
