why is it so difficult, when there's a free and a paid version of some random software, to figure out what the *difference* between the free and paid versions is
like I know the free version is going to be limited, but how is it limited? do I get a limited-time trial? is it some features are locked out? is it just going to tell me "hey you should buy this" every so often but do nothing to enforce that like winrar? or is it just a case of "free for personal use but businesses have to pay"?
the worst thing about this whole naming scheme is that we've never actually played through all of final fantasy 8
it has some really fantastic music though
we recently got a new laptop as a gift from our parents, to replace our current falling-apart one
this means that we have now gone through all the computer names we had lined up and I don't know what the next one will be called
Our previous laptop was fithos, the current soon-to-be-replaced one is lusec, our desktop is wecos, and the new one is vinosec
Accessibility question: When captioning videos, is it better to:
caption everything recorded, even including "um, well this one" and "so you have your err.. ah, that thing, and uh, this one over ah, here"
or caption only what was intended, as "this one" and "so you have that thing, and this one over here"
(obviously in either case egregious mistakes would be pointed out as "so you have that thing [those things]" if it's important to understanding what's being said)
Marking when something is a joke or sarcasm or ironic is super helpful for me and a lot of other Autistic people.
Sometimes things aren't clear, or I even recognize something as a common joke formula but am unsure what it means in the context.
You can use cws or even add /s for sarcasm or
/j for a joke
That way you can mark certain lines or parts of your post specifically
Is anyone aware of any sort of program you can run in the background that like, snaps windows to screen edges and stuff other than displayfusion, which has really annoying "upgrade to pro" messages that pop up at random?
I am talking about something that will align the edge of a window to the edge of the screen if you drag the window close enough to the edge, *not* the half-assed window snapping that windows has now where you can make it take up half the screen
A flavor of my bullshit that I'll always be on about:
"What if I'm wrong about some aspect of my identity and abandon that label in the future!" is almost never a productive line of thinking.
Identity is a continual process of creation, not a process of aligning with some platonic ideal of yourself. Do what feels right, right now. The future can sort itself out later.
early-game dragon quest ix spoilers
Rosemary's been playing Dragon Quest games lately and I really appreciate some of the puns in it
in dragon quest ix, the place you go to change vocations (DQ's answer to FF's job system) is called Alltrades Abbey, and it's presided over by Abbot Jack--Jack of Alltrades
but the pun doesn't stop there; Abbot Jack gets exposed to a magic artifact that turns him into a monster, and takes on the name Master of Nu'un

No one in particular - just felt like drawing someone with this body shape, and it ended up as this fox wearing a scattering of assorted accessories. I'm still an unabashed fan of stuff like this, and I wish I could find more art and more artists who were attuned this way. There are a few I know of, but more would always be welcome.
