all in all it was probably about the best way to go that there could be, she was already at peace with the idea of dying and we had multiple days to say goodbye... all her friends and family were able to be there by phone if not in person, and people from the assisted living center were apparently talking about how much of a positive influence she was there--enough so that some people who hadn't even been employed there for years came to say goodbye. I guess what i'm saying is, she was a great person and well loved by everyone around her, and she went peacefully without any regrets

our grandmother passed away this morning. we knew it was coming and it wasn't sudden but it's still. just. sad.

and especially where the *fuck* does that je-/ge- prefix come from because everything else we can either guess from context or have already had explained to us but for some reason the fact that that prefix is there and either no one knows why or no one will tell us why is *incredibly* frustrating right now

how exactly did we get associations between species and specific foods? like why does the public perception of monkeys like bananas? why does the public perception of mice like cheese? elephants and peanuts?

I strongly doubt any of those are actually foods that those species particularly like more than others, and I know you'll get rodents a lot more interested with peanut butter than with cheese
