megaman has some very intricate lore for what it is
you ever just think about how if time ever stopped, like if someone hit pause on the universe, no one would be able to tell?
How frequently, I wonder, does a relatively lighthearted media series do a "darker and edgier" reboot *successfully*?
it's not hard to find examples where it didn't work (e.g. spyro, sonic), but I can only think of one where it did: megaman (the X and Zero series are *definitely* darker and more serious than the originals by far)
The occasional panned guitar blasts work well as an imitation of alarms going off, and the frantic rhythm gives a sense of urgency. All the while, though, there's a slowly advancing harmony over it all, and occasionally a determined melody.
This is probably some of the best music I know of at giving a sense of determination in a crisis.

I didn't expect fantastic music when we picked up ZX, though perhaps I should have; good music is common in the Megaman series.
I feel like, rather than capturing the mood, this track sets the mood of the scene (I won't go into detail to avoid spoilers) in a masterful way.

neat thing about driving a hybrid: instead of that feeling of an automatic transmission shifting gears, there's the engine turning on or off
apparently in speedrunning megaman x2 there is no 100% category because collecting everything is actually faster than not collecting everything, because you get the shoryuken that ohkos all bosses for the final boss rush

(context: thinking about getting one in the future to be able to take advantage of dual-cart things some games use, with a gba game and a ds game both in the console)
