gripe about something really esoteric and really unimportant

apparently the super metroid speedrunning community calls the trick where you go really fast in morph ball mode a "mock ball"... and yes, that's how they spell it. not mach ball, which would make sense, but mock ball, which doesn't

someone said something before about what this sort of network activity means, but we can't recall what the word was

today is a day of weird mh. not particularly good, maybe a little bad but not extremely? but just. bleh

note/disclaimer/self-horn-tooting: this is a project we've contributed to. Several of the examples are our work, namely the following:

- all entries in op amps > chaotic circuits
- misc devices > jfets > lambda diode
- misc devices > jfets > lambda diode oscillator
- misc devices > light bulb > wien bridge oscillator
- other passive circuits > relays > relay oscillator
- transistors > gilbert cell multiplier
- transistors > true RMS converter
- transistors > joule thief
- mosfets > analog reciprocal
- mosfets > cmos crystal oscillator
- sequential logic > shift registers > universal

we also corrected a mistake in analog/digital > half-flash (subranging) ADC

unrelated to anything at all, falstad.com/circuit/ is fun to play with

if anyone's interested even a little bit in electrical engineering it's a great tool for building your understanding of how basic components work, better than LTspice or other spice-based simulators for that specifically (though it's definitely not as good for actual engineering work)

plus it's just kinda fun to see how things interact. play with the examples in the circuits dropdown!

people are talking about turnips a lot and it's made us realize

i don't think we've ever eaten a turnip, or seen a recipe that involved them

what are they used for?

@OldRedSun Hi! Did you read my profile before sending that follow request?

how does an operational transconductance amplifier work anyway and what are they used for that op amps can't do

introducing: the Lag Sheep

it's just a perfectly ordinary sheep, except for some inexplicable reason this single sheep causes inordinate amounts of lag

explaining the joke

The type of pastry used to make cream puffs and eclairs is called choux pastry, which is pronounced "shoe" because french is one of the few languages with worse spelling to pronunciation mappings than english

so we just got an email about some random schottky diode we bought a year and a half ago being discontinued and telling us that we can use any of these nine diodes to replace it... it's just a generic schottky diode, i think i can find replacements on our own |3

oh, huh.

apparently, digikey sends you an email to notify you whenever anything you purchased from them in the last two years goes into EOL status

food

ooh. we've never been big on leftovers because most of our experience with them has been... kinda bad, but it turns out the mongolian chicken from the chinese place we like a lot actually works as leftovers really well

just ask for it with extra sauce so it doesn't get dry

that meeting took way too long x.x.x

still not done either
