Could someone tell me 1) what is wrong with zoom security-wise and is it something I need to be worried about considering our school and our doctor use it for remote meetings and 2) what is keybase and why is it bad that zoom bought it

getting simulink/matlab to do things is hard and why does it have to do things the way it does things

it does some things just fine of course but the specific things we need it to do just don't seem to be possible

i'd love to see an explanation of exactly how the sprites in gen 1 pokemon were compressed. the compression algorithm sounds pretty unique

hexadecimal means something quite different to math witches than it does to mathematicians

email unsubscribe things are the worst

first thing you see on the page after clicking the unsubscribe link is a box with your email address already filled and a green confirm button. most times that means "click here to unsubscribe" but no, not this time

you have to scroll to the bottom of the page past a bunch of settings to get this. you'd think the green button is "confirm the action I clicked on in the email" but no it's the cancel button, the red button is the confirm button

@monorail you know stuff about fighting games can you give me some kind of resource about terminology or something

Show thread

i've gotten into watching videos explaining stuff about the meta of super smash bros and they keep using terms we don't understand and why is there all this jargon

remember to give your computer ram! regular sacrifices of healthy livestock will appease the spirits keeping the computer running and ensure the daemons continue to do your bidding.

what is keybase and should we be concerned

explaining the joke

in lore, arceus is called the first pokemon that created all the rest
also in lore, mew is called the first pokemon as in the common ancestor of all pokemon
bulbasaur is pokedex number 1
and rhydon (not rhyhorn, oops) has index number 1 in gen 1, and is likely the first pokemon created during development

Show thread

concept: four pokemon anthros, a bulbasaur, a mew, an arceus, and a rhyhorn, all holding one of those novelty "#1 (whatever)" mugs, glaring at each other in intense rivalry

far too much sunlight gets in our eyes between like 3:30 and 5:30 pm every day where we normally sit, even though the blinds are closed

stop it sun you are too bright

there is very definitely a particular sort of style of furry art that makes it very obvious that the artist is not themself a furry

🎮 🎵

minor gripe about things

people who say LB to things should make the post be a reply to the thing it's talking about so that people who aren't following the person can see what it is without having to go to their page and look at what they boosted

random thought: what good games were there on the sega saturn that either didn't get released on other consoles or had major exclusive features (like how only the saturn version of symphony of the night lets you play as maria)?

kinda wondering if a saturn would be an interesting system to try to get sometime
