today we learned: there was a castlevania game called Grimoire of Souls that was released exclusively in *Canada* of all places

we've never heard of a Canadian-exclusive game before

fun fact: the *entire* reason portrayals of monsters have historically had green skin is because that specific shade of green makeup was used to make actors look very pale in black and white movies, because for whatever reason black and white film reacted particularly strongly to that color light

they just kept using the same stuff in color movies too, for whatever reason

it seems to have just disappeared a few weeks ago

*turns out it was poorly marketed, sold badly, or was just terrible*

"no, no one wants games like that anymore, did you see how badly the last one did?"

oh yeah also we noticed that a *lot* of the people in the credits for metroid dread had Spanish-sounding names, which really surprised us

was it made by a Spanish or Latin American studio? I'm surprised Nintendo would let a third party develop a game for one of their main franchises, but I guess after Retro Studios did so well with the Prime series they might be more willing with Metroid games. certainly worked out well for them though!

Liked it better than Samus Returns, you can tell they were specifically trying to avoid the things people complained about with SR
