IR cameras are neat.

Did you know the lenses for thermal cameras are made of solid germanium? Because glass is opaque to anything beyond NIR, and thermal cameras work at much longer wavelengths (and germanium is transparent to those wavelengths, but with a high index of refraction)

we have no idea how much this costs, but expect it would be in the thousands, as atomic clocks usually are well over a thousand and a miniaturized one probably costs more.
