the postgame puzzles in patrick's parabox are so much harder than the pre-credits ones

i don't even know where to begin on inner push 5

wow, i just saw footage of okage shadow king used in a youtube video about turn-based combat design

that game never gets attention at all

the same video also used footage from radiant historia, which also is often forgotten

and!!! several interesting-looking games we don't recognise, if anyone could tell us what game it is at 2:50 here, right before bug fables? youtube.com/watch?v=ktogjiX3eI

you ever think about how in greek mythology, the god of death is basically the only deity with any sense of morals

the Hearth :ms_agender_flag: boosted

if you had to pick one AAA video game to call a true work of art, which would it be?

(i'm aware there are far more indie games that are very clearly deep artistic works, that's why i want to restrict it to AAA games to see what people think is particularly artistic in that area)

food, very bad mispronunciations

just saw someone on youtube pronounce weißwurst as "weeburst" and

agh

neat tech history thing we learned (video cassette format war)

neat thing we just learned: part of the reason betamax failed is because sony had weird stipulations about who was allowed to sell betamax VCRs

unlike the various manufacturers of VHS VCRs, they didn't allow anyone to rebrand their machines, whereas in the 1980s it was apparently popular for video rental places to rebrand VCRs that they would also rent out (because buying one was expensive), so they weren't interested in the sony ones they weren't allowed to rebrand

also, stores that *sold* betamax VCRs had to do so under a contract that said they would also sell other sony electronics, which meant that for retailers who weren't already selling sony tvs and stuff, getting into selling betamax was a more expensive proposition than getting into selling vhs or even v2000
-F?/R?

all that comes together to mean that sony basically ruined their chances of success by being too greedy, which is something they've done more than once

now that we've started collecting physical copies of soundtracks, it'd be neat if they came on little minidisc cartridges instead of CDs

minidiscs are pretty neat

i kinda wish they'd caught on outside of like, two countries

suddenly really bad headsaches and really sleepy, i think we're going to go to bed early today

there's also a followup video where they use it to diagnose and fix a faulty C64, and this one shows off the aforementioned third-party software youtube.com/watch?v=PyFeBAcg7l

youtube.com/watch?v=8ts5J09Y7G found this video about a super cheap oscilloscope thing and thought some people here might be interested in it (ping @starkatt and @Kyresti, who i know are into this sort of thing and may not have a scope yet)

it's a really bad scope, but it's also really cheap, and it's somewhat usable up to a few MHz (particularly if you use third-party software that people in the comments talk about)

this usb c extension cord claims to have a negative length and i would like to know how that works
-F

you ever think about how *weird* a protocol RS232 is?

i mean what the fuck else uses signal levels of +15 V and -15 V???

you've traded off all ability to do high speed communication *and* made it require big line drivers, in exchange for frankly ridiculous and unnecessary amounts of noise immunity
-F/R

why is it so difficult to send a file to a friend

lewd thoughts

also mightyena anthro or taur with huge balls intentionally easily visible under their skirt

i'm in a Mood this morning
