today I learned that HSPICE ("the 'gold standard' for accurate circuit simulation," which I use every day) was developed by Ashawna Hailey, who was trans, and her twin brother Kim. they went on to deliver the first 8080 clone for AMD.

Got an email saying that a student organization has invited a white nationalist speaker to talk at the university.... and they're not going to do anything about it but it was absolutely a student group and not the university that invited them and you shouldn't protest their speech, just ignore them and did we mention it was not the university who invited them

Was reminded of the existence of christmas crackers in the UK (via an ashens video featuring easter crackers). Why do these exist, anyway? Where did this tradition come from? Are there ones that actually contain good things? Why a hat?
