I feel like we've learned more about budgeting in this single month while building a computer than we did in years of trying to live on a budget

that feeling when you really want a hamburger but you have like no money until you get paid on friday

I'm glad that latest birdsite exodus happened, we've met a lot of neat people from it

What with the nature of Mastodon, I wonder how easy it would be to set up an instance that is an in-character RPG. Like, modern setting, Urban fantasy, sci-fi, horror, something like that, where the instance host is the GM.

today was a long day but now it is over and *flop*

I like how, by means of not reading the federated timeline, I have no idea what the current "discourse" is about and only know that it exists by seeing people complaining about it and/or offering support to people overwhelmed by it

@RhiaCat hi! I have no idea how meeting people works but you seem friendly

I was talking to someone about it yesterday but

Boron and vanadium are two of my favorite elements and everyone always seems to forget that they exist

confession: we forget people's pronouns a _lot_ and just fall back on generic "they". If this is a problem for anyone, please do let us know and we'll make an extra effort to not do that

small spoilers for octopath traveller

Huh, this game has a storyline or at least part of one about the evils of capitalism and especially land ownership

randomly remembered a single detail from a dream we had a couple days ago: Square Enix had announced a direct sequel to Final Fantasy X-2, for some ridiculous reason

Can we start a movement where at every store, everu fast food place, if they have a "how did we do" type Web page, or a customer suggestions box, we just ask "why do the workers not have chairs?"

apparently the original doom starts out on mars and then by the end of the game you're in hell

there's a trans metaphor in there somewhere, with going from mars to venus

(look if venus isn't hell i don't know what is)

tip: black pepper is a much better spice than you probably think. Get yourself a pepper grinder, even store-brand pepper you can usually buy in little plastic grinders that work perfectly acceptably.

The chemicals responsible for its flavor, piperine and chavicine, both evaporate very quickly, so freshly-ground black pepper has a much stronger and better taste than pepper that's already been ground into flakes

oh, oops, I meant to make this public, not unlisted. I thikn boosting it will fix that?? maybe?? how does that work

what if mastodon had a button on each post, separate from the fave button, that just let you tell someone "I read this, but I don't have anything more to add/don't know what to say/don't have time to write more/etc"

piperine

or capsaicin

hmm

both! *dumps red pepper and grinds black pepper onto its pasta*

also small. maybe a meter and a half tall or even less

I think there are two of me today. Both taurs, both leaning more theriomorphic than anthropomorphic. Still quilava as usual.

*beeps in stereo!*
