food

well, that's a negative for that first mediterranean place

food's okay, but they committed the cardinal sin of not having gyros

although they claimed to have gyros, all they actually had were "chicken gyro" and "beef tender gyro" and "turkey club gyro" and stuff... no actual gyros-as-in-the-specific-spiced-meat-thing

probably going to try the authentic-looking place sometime in the next few weeks

Show thread

apparently, welsh rabbit is just grilled cheese with a fancy name

we'd known for a while that it didn't have any actual meat in it but it's literally like. just grilled cheese, sometimes with a fried egg

ooh, but if I go a little further there's one that sounds really authenticky and stuff, they actually have a mediterranean grocery store attached and stuff

maybe we'll try the close one first though, don't want to drive all the wa y down there where it's all trafficky

Show thread

...and then I looked it up and found out there's a mediterranean place like one mile from our apartment that we hadn't known existed. time to see if that's any good!

Show thread

why are there no mediterranian food places around here, I want a plate of gyros and rice pilaf and there's nowhere to go here to get it

kind of a subpost but more about my reaction to things than about anyone else

why is it that whenever I get an answer that just says "yes" or "no" and nothing more--even if what I asked was just a yes-or-no question--I get this feeling of dread, like I did something to upset the person and now they're being terse out of wanting to not interact with me or something

got a follow request by someone I don't know who seems to have nothing to say about themself other than that they're "hated by the daily mail and most of the UK population" and I really don' tknow what to make of this? I should really start asking that people introduce themselves before following >.<

just saw a youtube video with someone talking about how it's easier and cheaper for them to fly across the country than to take the train in an incredulous sort of tone and it has me wishing we had an actually extant train network here now

this is why a lot of video game piracy exists: it's just not possible to buy a lot of these harder to find ones through legal channels that don't cost like $300 and give you a possibly damaged copy of the game

Show thread

why do movies get reprinted constantly and you can go buy a brand new copy of that obscure movie from the 90s on dvd for $cheap but video games get one or two runs and then that's it, never reprinted ever

i guess i kind of get it for cartridges what with the specialized tooling but like, why don't they reprint ps2 games? they're literally just dvds with data on them

why are video games so different than home video in this respect

i wonder if there's a carillon somewhere in the world that plays the song of time on the hour

because that would be really good

weird, idle thoughts, implied affection directed at reader

consider: cute multiheaded headless people

then consider: you, but with two or three detached heads

the Hearth :ms_agender_flag: boosted

I can't believe I never posted Sera, my goodest doggo ;o;

sidebar questions from the gaming stackexchange often look really weird, since that stackexchange doesn't allow you to put the name of the game in the question title or something apparently.

it just occurred to me that the reason the x86 architecture is such a complete mess is that it's been used in one form or another from literally the first commercial microprocessor ever (the intel 4004) until today

Why are there people who think workers' unions are a bad thing, anyway?

why do some people seem to call dpads "joypads"? is that a british thing?

mh -

you ever have one awkward interaction with someone due to a mistake on your part and then never feel comfortable talking to them again even though they seem like a good person

people keep talking about the show unravelled and I keep thinking they mean that food network show unwrapped

if they wanted piracy to be unappealing to kids, they shouldn't have named it after one of the typical kid's go-to examples of a Cool Profession
