explaining the joke
The plot of Suikoden 2 revolves around two True Runes, the Black Sword and Bright Shield runes. The protagonist Riou possesses the Bright Shield rune, and the deuteragonist Jowy has the Black Sword rune.
It's kind of just a reference more than a joke, I guess
hey @monorail, I know you're into SCP stuff and I think you might want to know about the stuff in this thread: https://cybre.space/@diodelass/103143657947482930
i hope it isn't awkward to point you to it this way :x
the SCP wiki community is hostile to pluralfolk
Guess we might as well post this publicly.
We attempted to return to our old friends on the SCP Wiki last night, to whom we had not talked in about a year. Instead, we got snipped at for referring to ourselves in the plural, and told that it was "extremely disruptive"; further events we uncovered thereafter indicated that this community is just really hostile to pluralfolk and effectively has "no plurals allowed" as a de-facto community policy.
It feels like a bit of a waste having all these separate power supplies for all these separate devices sometimes
like in our tv cabinet there is currently plugged in: a ps2, a ps3, a wii u, a wii u gamepad charger, a wii, an snes, an xbox 360, a nintendo switch, and a tv
it feels like there ought to be a way to have a single power supply, a single point of AC-DC conversion, that goes to all of these
at least the snes and playstations have internal psus and don't need an external brick
massive news in the speedrunning world
so uh. there's ACE in OoT now.

mh, tech, -
aaaaaaagh tech support is frustrating and apparently MSI is a bad brand for laptops, we got an MSI one because we knew MSI was really good at desktop stuff
anyway we got that laptop that broke a month after we got it back from the RMA and it still doesn't work, it turns on but it runs extremely hot
(correct me if I am wrong, I'm reasonably certain [d] doesn't exist in mandarin except maybe as an allophone of [t] but we do not speak mandarin)
(the English distinction is between [tʰ] and [d] where the Mandarin one is between [tʰ] and [t], which is why the word Tao is sometimes (and probably more accurately, in terms of how English-speakers read it being understood by Mandarin-speakers) spelled Dao, among other differences)
(this holds for the other plosives too)
Hmm. we listened to some examples of Japanese pitch accent and... it sounds identical to the English accent? Is there something we're missing? Or is this a case of two features that go together, except one of them is contrastive in language A and the *other* one is in language B (like voicing vs aspiration with English and Mandarin)
