anyone else who's familiar with tales of symphonia feel like Yuan should have been a party member?

credit where it's due: this was partly inspired by @windyorigami and @VoxSomniator's worldbuilding stuff

sci-fi writing thing, a little long, worldbuilding, multi, multibody, modular

Yesterday, I had my brain removed.

That's not nearly as bad as it may sound to someone unfamiliar with life on Anse.

I'd moved here some months ago, escaping the oppressive society of my homeworld, and finally decided to take the plunge a week ago. Once the paperwork had all gone through, I had my brain removed, scanned, and uploaded onto a computer, which I would have running in my apartment from now on. The whole process took only about four hours, though it seemed instant from my perspective. They put a wireless interface device in my old body so I can still use it, but I'm getting rid of this thing as soon as possible--there are *much* better options available to me now!

And that's why I'm here now, at an artist friend's studio, having my ideal bodies designed. I don't have to limit myself to one anymore, either! I already decided I'm going to have a whole bunch of theriomorphic bodies... just being a swarm of long, six- or eight-legged otters sounds lovely. But a couple anthro bodies to choose between would be good as well--we're working on a wide selection of interchangeable parts right now. As we work, I'm coming to understand why the standard one-person apartment is so large here--mine is certainly going to feel less empty when there's two or three of me living there and a few dozen bodies worth of spare parts in the storeroom!

I know most people here saying LDR mean it as long-distance relationship but we can't not read it as light-dependent resistor (another name for a photocell)

mh, social -

sometimes i feel like we don't talk to friends enough. i worry that people will start to think we don't care, when really we just don't have anything to talk about, or just feel too awkward to start a conversation

medical, positive

got back from a doctor appointment--they still want to do an ultrasound to be extra sure but it sounds like the thing we were worried was cancer or something is actually just a completely benign cyst

did sony ever make an official dualshock 2 to usb adapter, for using ps2 controllers with a ps3 or something?

Show thread

why is it so hard to connect a ps3 controller to a pc anyway

maybe we should look into getting a thing to connect a ps2 controller, wired is always easier

so what exactly is it that causes phase inversion in old op amps anyway

we never have seen a proper explanation of that

my preferred aesthetic is: cute, but in a way that's terrifying to capitalists

🍅 🥔

(for anyone else in this situaiton, it's "animal crossing new horizons")

Show thread

everyone keeps just calling it acnh and we didn't know what that actually stood for until today when someone finally spelled it out

negative, abuse mention

people who dedicate their lives to making other people feel worthless are just utterly despicable
