And we're not really upset at the person who did this either, we just.. don't know how to bring it up to them. We should, but we don't know how, and are scared of being attacked for bringing it up even though I don't think that would happen?

I think it would be much better if someone were to word it more gently, as "you've derailed the conversation; can we get back to X topic" but instead we got something along the lines of "you weren't involved in this conversation, please don't jump in just to derail it", and I'm not sure how to even respond to that.

We want to be called out when we do something wrong.
But I wish people would be more gentle when we do something without realizing it.
It hurts to have someone imply that I did something wrong on purpose, when it was our usual difficulty with reading social situations, not an intentional attempt to derail a conversation.

to clarify, when I say queer spaces that heavily focus consent i mean the specific spaces we've ended up in, not queer spaces in general. we know that there are still consent problems.
