Fuck, they're rolling back the restrictions on carbon emissions that the Obama administration passed. Why. Why is caring about the continued habitability of this planet we're all stuck on a political issue now?

I like the Jordan curve theorem, because apparently no one even thought of it as something that needed to be proven until the 1880s, and then it turned out to be remarkably difficult to prove.

The statement of the theorem can basically be summed up as "every closed, non-self-intersecting continuous curve in the plane has an inside and an outside." which is glaringly obvious

you'd think that in an IRC channel named #weird, specifically meant as a catch-all for nsfw weirdness that doesn't have its own channel, content warnings would be common sense, since there are so many different interests going on in that channel. Somehow, people have decided that since it's where all the extreme stuff ends up, there shouldn't need to be content warnings... which is a train of thought I just can't follow.
