So my account here on mastodon.social is temporary. here's what I'm looking for in a permanent instance:

1) Not too big, but not too small. i want longterm viability. the local feed should be active but not a firehose.

2) doesn't have to be run by furries / lgtbq but must be friendly to them

3) A personal preference, i don't want the name to be too goofy and shouldn't include "mastodon"

4) It should federate as widely as it can and not get too wrapped up in internal strife

While following a lot of people can populate your Home feed significantly, sometimes people (like me) end up boosting a lot and that can unexpectedly hinder your own experience.

So if you like someone's specific posts and don't want to follow their boosts, you can go to their profile under the [...] button, and select the "Hide boosts from account" button.

There is no algorithm on Mastodon. You have ownership and control over every filtering decision instead of some robot.

I’m going to actively defend the idea of drag story hour here (initially I didn’t see the point). Kids get to see an adult not just enjoy dressing up, but go through the trouble of dressing up special to read to *them*. That’s pretty affirming stuff. And it’s sad to see that under siege from a presentation of adults as self righteous angry voices eager to punish.

A couple where one is a #werewolf, only instead of causing trouble when transformed by the full moon, they stay home and play fetch and cuddle on the couch. Only werewolves without some one to take care of them tend to act out like anxious puppers 🐺

Hey everyone, did you know it's almost #Wolfenoot ?

It is when the Spirit of the Wolf brings and hides small gifts around the house for everyone. People who have, have had, or are kind to dogs get better gifts than anyone else.

You eat roast meat (because wolves eat meat) and cake decorated like a full moon.

It’s on the 23rd November if anyone else is moved to celebrate it. If you do, please post pics, so he can see how his idea has spread.

A wise person once said that, in times of catastrophe, look for the helpers, or be one yourself. A true warrior cultivates a culture of helpers, that you may rely on each other to give aid, support in times of need. Don't wait for catastrophe to bring out that side of yourself.
