why do video games sometimes get north american releases but not european ones, or european releases and not NA ones

I get that a european release may mean more languages to translate it to, I guess, but an NA release only needs english (french and spanish are bonus points though) which an EU release also needs anyway

@Felthry depending on the content, a proper localization (as opposed to simply translation) may be necessary for the game, I suppose? there's also additional distribution costs, marketing, etc. though rly i'd generally assume most games would only gain from having an american market, so im also a bit perplexed..

@FragileVal I mean there aren't many games in that category, we can only think of Terranigma, but it's weird nonetheless.
