my fav millipede
check it, its Polyxenus lagurus, the bristly millipede. It's bristles are detachable and can entangle or irritate predators, like a tarantula hairs or porcupines quills. They're about 2-3 cms long and nocturnal.
It;s one of the original species described by Linnaeus!
And that's about all i have, its unfortunately fairly underresearched .
one of my biggest music peeves is that classic country often actually had subversive themes appealing to working class people struggling to live in a society that didn't value them, while modern pop country is overwhelmingly a bunch of white boys in designer boots fetishizing a lifestyle they've never experienced and objectifying women
Bugs
check it out! Just learned about these, they're Ambush bugs! They're genus Phymata within assassin bugs (a kind of true bug or Hemiptera, which can be identified by their proboscis).
The cool thing about these guys is! Convergently with mantids and a lot of other arthropods they've evolved raptorial (siezing) forelegs for grabbing prey, and fill an ambush pred niche akin to mantids (hence the name)
