serious question: why isnt cave story's experience system more common? its a REALLY elegant way to make enemies matter in a sorta metroid-y platformer game

@FragileVal oof. I mean, in general, I'd rather fight Goku head/Garf body bc I think the other option, Garf's pure bastard personality with Goku's raw power could lead to unfathomable destruction and despair.

If, on the other hand, the "befriend after a bigger threat arrives" trope is set in stone, there's nothing to fear and Garf head/Goku body is p. much the most powerful being imaginable and a good ally as long as you fuck w/ lasagna.

These are olms! Neotenous cave salamanders from southeast europe. They're blind and fully aquatic!

They live in limestone caves throughout the regions mountains, and are specially adapted for it. Lacking eyes or any skin pigmentation, but their highly developed smell, vibration sense, and ability to detect electric fields allows them to traverse their troglodytic homes just fine.

Highly sociable, they aggregate under rocks in their watery homes in between bouts of hunting their invertebrate prey.
