Reading and woo
Books! So I've started reading _Kraken_, by China Mieville, first of their works i've read.
thoughts so far, at about a quarter in:
-his writing style is a bit hard to grok at times, but i'm getting the feel of it
-oh okay that was an abrupt swing into Weird Shit is Happening
-squid cult, squid cult, squid cult
'Gods are among us and they care nothing and are nothing like us.
This is how we are brave: we worship them anyway.'
Reading and woo
Anywhere including nowhere.
'On the board & in life for Kraken in the void nothing is not nothing. Kraken stillness is not lack. Its zero is ubiquity. This is the movement that looks like not moving, & it is the most powerful move of all.'
...yeah i like the squid cult. shush. there's novel bits to be nibbled on, little motes to draw here and there. Interesting so far; only a quarter through the book. It's neat. n_n

Relatedly, on spirituality, found a link on birdsite to a touchscreen kioskbot that could dispense Christian prayers on request:

I don't know whether to be amused or put off? It is novel, yes, but at the same time, dispensing prayers from a vending machine...kinda cheapens the moment, doesn't it?
A generic prayer would never equal in...gravitas...to one woven for a specific person, a specific instance, imho.
