Structural ponderings, capitalism
@Kyresti Given how scared some of the larger corps are of it and of their talent walking out the door, unionization is a start.
As for larger collectives, the EFF is a good example in the policy space, as are conference collectives (CCC, DEF*CON, various BSides communities, etc).
I'd include open source too, but... no, most of those are autocratic around one or two members.
uspol action
Justin Amash has put forward an "Ending Qualified Immunity Act" and I've called my rep about it.

I know it seems trite to be researching this when folks are in the streets. Beyond saving lives in the immediate, we need reforms to be fighting for, too.
@Kyresti Now is also a good time for CBs and HAMs to start their own pirate radio.

Called my rep to ask them to sponsor a bill removing QI in the meantime. Also thanked them for taking a stand against crazy man's military action today (rep is ranking member of the armed services committee).

I'm outside of my expertise here, but this seems like a good survey of reforms to ask for after the removal of qualified immunity: https://twitter.com/samswey/status/1180655701271732224

Hey Masto admins: heads up that 4chan is planning a multi-site targeted harassment and misinformation campaign on social media targeting LGBTQ+ communities: https://twitter.com/dr_jfprice/status/1265658344133591041

The simple art application I've been using since forever is getting a Switch release with a stylus, should anyone be interested:

@mawr One of the things I love about the game Kingsway is they synthesize platter drive clicks and load times as they existed on a Windows 98 computer, right down to the little spastic hour glass icon between reads and writes.
Our generation has really weird nostalgia.
general strike, may day
Just a reminder: if you can, please avoid buying from major grocery and retail chains tomorrow.
Several nationwide walk-outs and strikes are scheduled for May 1st, including shipping and grocery store workers protesting for PPE and basic protections amidst the global pandemic (https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/n7j8zw/amazon-whole-foods-instacart-workers-organize-a-historic-mass-strike). A large dip in revenue will show solidarity for and help give bargaining power to these workers, in addition to not being a scab.

@chr There's a mod for it that tells you to drink water every so often, complete with animated GIFs of a cat doing so, and it is one of the best things I have installed for the game.
