uspol +/-

@jdlwerewolf@snouts.online One thing I'll add: while the shiny object is the presidency (and we've seen just how broken things can get when its occupant lets nazis and their own spawn set the agenda), a good place to put pressure is on Congress, especially the Senate.

Beyond that, folks would be well served learning how dissidents do things (communication, prep, protest, safety in numbers, etc), because this system won't give up quietly, easily, or quickly.

covid-adjacent, uspol, longish

after this is all over, be sure to remind people, as often as they'll allow you to get away with it, that:

  • telecoms did not need data caps, had plenty of capacity to donate to low-income folks, and were never in danger of going bankrupt because of the lack of data caps or the additional usage

  • folks who work on computers all day can do that wherever computers are; most tech offices are merely trophies to show off to other tech offices.

  • the government wasn't concerned with helping people, it was concerned with helping business. it was people who were helping people and often the government merely got in the way of that.

  • trillions of dollars was found to allocate as soon as they wanted to; every time anyone asks how anything will be funded it's merely to shut down the conversation.

keep a running list of your favorite facts and get them in front of as many folk as you can, as often as you can, and maybe, just maybe, we can get more folks on board for change

US Pol, Simple action needed, Mass surveillance and encryption,

Congress is using this opportune distraction to try to push for outlawing encryption. Please fill out this simple form through the EFF to prevent this from happening.

There's a whole class of weird US court cases against inanimate objects:

United States v. Approximately 64,695 Pounds of Shark Fins
United States v One Solid Gold Object In The Form Of A Rooster

I decided to see what a neural net would make of them.

Seattle Area: COVID-19 Grocery/Supply Mutual Aid! [1/2]

For those in our Seattle & greater Seattle-adjacent communities who need some extra help weathering this pandemic for any reason, a group currently going by the name of "COVID-19 Mutual Aid" is rapidly forming to help match requests for aid with volunteer efforts.

The following message is copied in full (with some modification) from the "COVID-19 Mutual Aid - Seattle" Facebook group. The original is available here:

The difference between a furry and a cryptid is lighting and angle 😛

@Kat@snouts.online Dragalia is good content.

@noiob @ticky Requires a source of power over USB as well. Battery on my solar graph was an extra $50, but provides its own solar power to the Pi independent of my power grid at home.

@noiob @ticky My own method of doing so has been connecting Pi Zero Ws to a display via GPIO pins, scraping image data from a web daemon are home. Hardware cost is ~$60 per tag though, which isn't cheap unless you buy bulk supply.

@noiob @ticky In all seriousness, the most commonly cited use case I've seen is inventory control tags, which I think are in use today but not widely used at retail.
