(Though, despite the aforementioned prolific output in July, this is still my hobby on top of full-time job. So the number of slots would be limited.)
While I mentioned this awhile ago on birdsite, I should point out here that I make 3D art using Sculptris and Blender. I'm reasonably efficient at it, too.
Here are some art trades I made of others' characters during July alone -- 68 shown, 69 in all (Nice). These were all for Art Fight, and I've been looking for excuses to make more since then.
If there's any interest, I could open a few commission slots?

infosec, pol (-/+/?)
There are times I wish I could scrub “understands infosec” from my character sheet for social reasons.
I have the common geek social trait where, if I understand a topic well, I will gush about it without realizing. Not a problem in itself.
Except infosec topics overlap heavily with pol right now. Leading to my going paragraphs in before I realize: “Wow, this is really cool! Wow, this is really terrible! Abort, abort!”
I might need to switch focuses on my character sheet.

bird site, rant
I’ve been keeping bird site’s mobile app in notification-only mode for the past 10 days. Despite my dismissing “News for you” to show less often, today they happily did it again, this time for that man and Iran.
Fuck you, Twitter. I want to understand the world around me, subscribe to artists I like, and get relevant notifications, not be kept in a state of apoplectic anxiety for your shareholder value. Thanks.
It goes without saying I’ll probably not go back anytime soon.
food
Tonight, I learned that baked delicata squash is easy to make, inexpensive (~$2 at PCC), and really really really good.
I’m going to buy a few more of them to see how well they work with culinary experiments and recipes out of the Veganomicon.

@mawr Yeah, and it applies on top of our utility savings, too. The program ends in June of 2020, but there’s a good chance of extension by then as well.
☀️🔌
TIL: Washington state’s renewable energy program offered us $0.54 per kWh generated for our new system. That works out to about $10 a day, on top of our energy savings (@$0.11) and other incentives.
It’s a good reminder that, while our federal admin is trying to bury the data and programs, solar really is a good investment in Washington state right now.
My older sister successfully delivered her second tiny human around 9am this morning. I’m relieved and overjoyed.
I’m looking forward to being that one eccentric, cool uncle for them again. The one that always knows the perfect gifts (hint: I cheat using Amazon), with an air of mystery to them that, sometimes, you’re suspicious is secretly a dragon.
Update on house stuff
@mawr Seeing well-managed cables and network equipment brings me great joy (in addition to the build-in-progress). Keep up the good work! 💕
peaceful sandbox game, anxiety mention
@green No prob!
Server numbers are low enough (~20-70 on the most populous one) that we’ll probably run into each other. Though I keep player nameplates off to preserve immersion, so I probably won’t know unless it’s mentioned after the fact.
peaceful sandbox game, anxiety mention
I discovered the game Meadow yesterday. I hadn’t realized it was something I needed.
It’s difficult to describe how much easier it is to socialize with strangers when the lexicon is limited to trills, chirps, bleets, and limited semaphore in a peaceful sandbox game. Or the wonders this does for social anxiety and fear of social complexity in general.
It’s currently $3 on Steam, in case it’s useful to others: http://store.steampowered.com/app/486310/Meadow/
mood
Taking a week off the bird site has substantially helped. I’m no longer anxious about the daily drip feed of horrors I can’t control, and my schedule has restructured around things that are much better for me.
Art Snacks sent me an inexpensive dip pen that I’ve been doodling around with. While the results are not yet ones I’ll show, I’ve been impressed by how much easier it is to control inking with it. And the ink is water soluble, so it’ll work without blending into my Copics.

($0 from net usage, that is. They still charge ~$8.95 as a utility hookup fee, which we’re more than happy to pay.)
rant, anxiety, Twitter
The direct impact is I’ve decided to submarine from Twitter for a few weeks while I work on my art again. I’m hoping that’ll go well. 🐲🎨
rant, anxiety, Twitter
It’s been two months since I’ve been able to art reliably, due in large part to anxiety over news. I’ve been stepping away from it much more, limiting my participation to what I can handle. Especially from Twitter.
This morning, Twitter injected news of the Mandalay Bay shooting _directly into my notifications_ as “News for you”. Which I’ve never seen them do before.
I have never contemplated deleting their app from my devices permanently so strongly as today.
@Austin_Dern I’m not on there, so very likely someone else. Apologies!
Dragon. Agender, otherkin, occasional artist and writer, infosec engineer, in about that order. Avatar by Xeirla. Singular they/them preferred.
Also on @Goldkin (meow.social) for follow requests that don't work here.
