Seattle Locals: Call To Action (cw: pol) - please boost!
There has been a nationwide call to protest Trump's firing of Jeff Sessions.
The Seattle gathering is at Cal Anderson Park in Capitol Hill, starting at 5pm.
Dress warmly, wear comfortable footwear, and TAKE PUBLIC TRANSIT: Over 10,000 people are expected.

Being able to actually build connections again here and in group chats, without worrying about the performative hellscape Twitter and other larger platforms have become, has made such a big difference over the past year or so.
I guess it's also important to point, many other people were in this same situation, and that I'm thankful they escaped as well.

I'm not sure I've mentioned this, but by this point, Masto has likely saved my life.
During the Falling Out, Twitter became one of the few social ties left to me in ~2015/2016. Despite pitching its client, I do still regularly read a few accounts from there. And the information environment has gotten... really bad. Had I not had an alternative to that ecosystem, I'm not sure if I would have emotionally recovered.
I don't know how to fully express my gratitude that this community exists.

The fact that Ralsei is actually Asriel (it’s even an anagram, aaargh) only makes me love both more.
My headcanon is that Asriel went from his deviantart phase right into creating his own fursona, and choosing to be an even fluffier boy fits him perfectly.

For those of us that can’t protest Amazon in person because it may jeopardize our employment, are there any good orgs to donate time and money towards?
I know that sounds hypocritical, but many of us in tech have to stay employed to keep a roof over our loved ones while trying to fight late capitalism and fascism.

I want to live in a world in which my paranoia isn’t valuable.
Friends and family have reached out to me to thank me for advising them to not post personal info to Facebook and Twitter, and for articulating the danger of all of this before it metastasized in uspol and internationally. That’s all well and good, but let’s fight for a world in which we can be open and free about ourselves, without having to worry about the calculus of what evil people will do with all that info.
