I can lower the intensity, but I think I’m going to stick with it in small chunks, balanced with using an exercise bike. I kind of need to build endurance again.

Me, from the ground not even ten minutes later: I may have misjudged the intensity of this game a little.

So I bought Ring Fit Adventure for my niece and her family, as an early birthday gift. I also got myself a copy.

Niece: *sets game to low intensity*
Ring Fit Adventure: Here’s 3 reps! Great job!
Niece: Fitness is fun!
Me: This doesn’t look too bad.

... some time later...

Me: Hm, I’ll try the second highest setting.
Ring Fit Adventure: Here’s 30 health bars just for one attack.
Me: oh no

My weekend project: bought a knockoff 3DS (GPD XD Plus), flashed it with Cleanrom, and tried a couple random seeds on it (alttp, oot, metroid prime) successfully. I also cobbled together a serviceable streaming setup for the thing using Android screen sharing.

I wonder if this has value to other folks. It's a major step up from running these off of a phone when I'm not at my desk, that's for sure.

I bought a knock-off 3DS for running emulators that is actually an Android gaming cabinet. This is proudly emblazoned on the back of the box.

I think I get where they were going with it.

A friend and I tested one of their first menus — at discount — when they first popped up in that location. And I guess they figured out how to end the streak.

I hope it continues to work for them.

Among the restaurants that landed there: multiple Thai restaurants of mediocre rapport, one brief attempt at an upscale wine bar, and a pinball-arcade-Americana fusion called Highscore Burgers.

A few months after the burger place folded, it was bought by the protege of a master chef and converted into a “five star” Indian Tapas fusion restaurant called The Guilt Trip. And, years later, it’s still there — now being advertised to me on the back of a bus.

Some of the Renton city busses are advertising a restaurant right next door to my old home, and it’s kind of funny to me.

Back when I was living in an apartment complex on Eastside, there was a small house next door that had been converted into a string of unsuccessful restaurants. A new place would pop up once every couple of months, fold with little warning or fanfare, and then pick up a few weeks later under a new owner. Rinse, repeat. For years.

This is genuinely the most cat thing Hobbes has done.

Which isn’t exactly hard in this case, because infosec and furry have a rather large intersection. But I still maintain that barrier to prevent work and social lives merging together.

Untitled Goose Game is one of those games that uncomfortably intersects furry circles and work chat. In which I get to pretend that I don’t follow many of the people talking about it in either circle.

That moment of existential horror when I realize I have 34 TOTP keys to migrate over to new hardware.
